Microsoft recently released a ton of new financials, distribution, human resources & payroll and system enhancements in their recent October release of Microsoft Dynamics GP. One of the most anticipated features is being able to schedule check links. Users can now set up a schedule to run check links outside of regular business hours. Users will be able to run the processes without having to select the Check Links process manually.

As the impact of COVID-19 increases across the globe, I wanted to explain the steps we’re taking to ensure continuity of customer service during the coming weeks.We aim to maintain the level of service that our customers expect from WebSan, as well as ensure that we keep our people safe. Additionally, we want to make sure our offices aren't helping to spread the virus.We’ve taken several steps to minimize the disruption over the coming period including restricting business travel, encouraging best hygiene practices and ensuring that people across all areas of our business are set up to work from outside the office.
Fortunately, we are a global business that is experienced in working with our customers remotely, over the phone or email, rather than in person, and as a result, we expect little disruption to your experience with us. We’ve built a business over the last 20 years that largely interacts with customers virtually – whether to implement our products, get support or get any assistance you might need from WebSan.
Like many organizations, we have had to change some of our plans. We won’t be running some of the face-to-face events that we had planned for the coming months, nor entertain onsite meetings, instead were using virtual events so our customers can still get access to resources and hear from our teams. This is a worrying time for everyone, but we hope with these measures in place that WebSan can be a company you can rely on during this pandemic.

Microsoft has created a crisis communication app. The Crisis Communication app provides a user-friendly experience to connect users with information about a crisis. Quickly get updates on internal company news, get answers to frequently asked questions, and get access to important information like links and emergency contacts.
Resources and support for our global customers impacted by COVID-19
Over the past weeks, Microsoft has mobilized global teams to support communities and organizations affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Power Platform teams are working closely with organizations on the front lines of the crisis—including governments, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and schools and universities.
For a business to be successful, it has to be able to analyze data immediately in real time, and handle the market changes while ensuring that different departments are in communication with each other.

What is Dynamics 365?
Dynamics 365 is a product line of enterprise resources planning and customer relationship management applications.
Dynamic 365 is a Microsoft-based technology solution that is bringing together all aspects of your business to improve existing workflow, recognize and pursue potential and viable business opportunities and manage the current market to stay ahead of the competition.
Unprecedented levels of efficiency and communication sharing among employees
Dynamic 365 allows you to link Office 365 with other Microsoft apps like Exchange, Office Lens, One Drive, Microsoft Team, One Note, Power BI and SharePoint effectively.
For example, if you want to share a proposal you’re working on, all you do is create your proposal on Microsoft Word this way you can give the appropriate people access to edit it and collaborate on it together. Microsoft Word also allows you to share it on SharePoint or with other team member’s computer with OneDrive.
You can also take pictures with Office Lens (it allows you to take photos of business cards, whiteboard and other visual settings that might be difficult with regular applications).
It also allows you to create a communication channel for team members working together on a project through Microsoft Teams allowing team members share documents, notes, and ideas without missing the critical steps in a project.

In any business, success depends on the communication flow between the finance and sales team. Unlike other application and software that are hard to program or synchronize, Dynamic 365 has a multitude of applications that allow team members to communicate effectively, increasing the flow channel and making documentation easy.

Microsoft’s newest update covers everything from compliance requirements, message encryption to Azure password protection.
Below is a list of Microsoft 365’s new updates:
Editor in PowerPoint
The editor in PowerPoint now has multi-language support. This update can support English, French, Spanish and German. The system will recognize which language is being used and suggests fixes and appropriate grammar and spelling rules in the correct language.
Brand New Icons in Office 365
There are nearly 350 new icons to choose from in Office 365. They include new categories like accessibility, holidays and process.
Microsoft Kaizala is an app created for large group communications and work management.
The new updates will enable you to access the app if you are a Microsoft 365 for Office 365 commercial customer. Kaizala features will also be available in Microsoft Teams over the next 12 to 18 months.
Power BI Web by Example Connector
It allows customers to scrape data from HTML pages. It supports ingesting any data element on the page, beyond just HTML tables. You provide sample values for what data you would like to be extracted, and it does the rest.
Compliance Manager makes it easy to manage your organization’s cloud compliance activities, from implementation to reporting.
This update will now allow you to create custom risk assessments of any application used in your business. These assessments enable your IT team to import their own security and compliance control into the Compliance Manager.
Office 365 Advanced Message Encryption allows admins to revoke or expire encrypted emails. Once an encrypted email has been revoked, the recipient attempting to open it will be notified that the message has been revoked by the sender and be unable to view it.
Multi-Geo in Office 365
SharePoint Online and Office 365 Groups will enable customers to control where sites are stored. Users will be able to work anywhere in the world as their data is stored in the location of your choosing.
Security Policy Advisor
Office Security Policy Advisor is a new intelligent service, now available in preview, that uses behaviour-based analysis to help IT admins to quantify the risks and benefits of applying a tailored policy and monitor policy health over time, for their Office clients.
Admins can now deploy policies with a single click and easily update, or even roll back policies. Once again, this service is now available as a preview for all organizations with Office 365 ProPlus.
Azure AD password protection
Azure AD Password Protection, now generally available, lowers the risk of a being compromised by what is commonly known as a password spray attack. This is when a malicious user attempts to use a single password against multiple accounts before moving to the next commonly used password.
The updated banned password algorithm uses both the Microsoft-defined global banned password list and the custom banned password list you define to help users avoid choosing weak and vulnerable passwords.

Over the last few years, Microsoft has been making significant investments in the cloud. Unfortunately, that means that Windows Server 2008 and SQL Service 2008 will reach the end of support. But don’t worry, Microsoft has created a pathway for companies ready to make the switch to the cloud.
Why should I make the switch to the cloud?
Moving to the cloud is no longer an intimidating transition. Companies of all sizes have made the switch to the cloud, and we don’t see that trend slowing down any time soon.
Here are a few trends that are noteworthy:
- In 2016, 16.1 ZB of data was generated. In 2025, 163 ZBs of data will be generated.
- More than 80% of organizations now adopt cloud-first strategies as part of an overall digital transformation
- Investment in AI, top of mind for many companies, increase by an astounding 300% in 2017
When is the deadline and what happens if I do nothing?
It’s better that you act now and not later, time is running out. Extended support for SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 ends on July 9, 2019 and Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 ends on January 14, 2020. These deadlines are around the corner; you need to give yourself time to migrate and explore your options.
If you decide to do nothing, then be prepared for no security updates, compliance concerns and missed innovation opportunities.
What are your options?
You have options, for both on-premise and cloud migrations. If you plan to stay on-premise, you can upgrade to Windows Server 2016 and get cloud and DevOps ready. If you decide to move the cloud, you can migrate Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 workloads to Azure VM.
